Potentiometric Determination of Iodide in Magnesium Fluoride by Iodide Electrode
Main Article Content
Abstract
Iodide آ in samples آ containing آ magnesium آ fluoride آ was آ determinedآ آ by using iodide selective آ electrode. آ Detecting آ the limit for iodide determination
was around آ 5x1 oآ·5آ آ M with a standard آ deviation آ ranged آ from آ آ± 0.3 to آ± 0.6.
Quantitativeآ آ methodsآ آ including; standard آ additionآ آ method, آ Potentiometric
titration آ by using a Gran plot paper for an equivalent آ point determination and a آ directآ آ methodآ آ wereآ آ used آ for آ the آ analysis.آ آ Dissolutionآ آ of آ magnesium fluoride samples آ was investigated آ in various acids (HCI, HN03, HCI04, and H3P04). Good آ recovery آ of آ iodide آ was obtained آ by using آ hydrochloric and phosphoric آ acids آ for dissolution. Interference آ of آ uranyl آ ion and آ halide آ ions,
pآ·, cr,آ and Br- on iodide response was also studied. This method can be used
for the determination of iodide in magnesium آ fluoride obtained آ from uranium
metal production.
